More than 97 nonprofit organizations were among the recipients of grants awarded by GECF between September 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009. The Foundation processed more than 200 grant applications and awarded more than $455,000 in grants and scholarships awarded through competitive grant processes and at the recommendation of fund holders.

Grants for Human Services and Education led the way and comprised the majority of the giving by the Foundation and its donors, followed closely by grants to Arts & Culture, Health & Wellness and the Environment  – all parts of our Healthy Community Foundation Pillars.

     Arts - Lowell Elementary School, Missoula Children's Theatre for the Lowell Community
     Community Development - Community Voicemail
     Education - Choice & Consequence, the Real Inside Story
     Environment - Cascade Land Conservancy, Youth Engagement
     Health & Wellness - Hospice of Snohomish County, Camp Erin
     Human Services -  Sky Valley Food Bank
     Youth -  Boys & Girls Club, Snohomish County

2009-2010 promises to be a busy grantmaking year for the Foundation, with eight competitive grant cycles scheduled, and a strong base of highly engaged donors/advisors already developing their individual grantmaking strategies for the new year.   We look forward to a successful year of working with you in your giving.
